Sumatra from the Gayo Mountain Cooperative. Super rich flavor and a slight herbal chocolate taste. This naturally processed organic coffee is cultivated by small-scale farmers at 5000’ above sea level. The tropical environment of the Gayo Mountain region, in the northwestern corner of the Indonesian island of Sumatra, produces clean coffees with a low acidity. We roast this superior varietal to emphasize these most desirable traits. Our deep but restrained Dark Roast lets its exotic flavor and richness shine through and blend with its velvety body.
This bean is our darkest roast. Our personal taste buds tend to sit more in the Medium Roast range, but we make exceptions, and Sumatra is certainly one of them. Getting it to the Dark Roast stage allows for the herbal chocolate flavor to really come through.
